Cherry Creek Kids

¡Hola! Just a few kids from the neighborhood you may have forgotten.

Alex Gunning - My BFF from age 8 - 13. He moved away before high school (went to West I think) I ran in to him a few years later when I was working in at Shoney's on W. Broad. I have always liked the name Alex.

Steve Burgstrom - one of my good friends the same time as Alex. He made some poor life choices during high school and after but we had some good time together.

Greg Weaver - He moved in when I was in high school and we played a lot of wiffle ball and he played some church B-ball with us. I think he ended up playing college baseball @ Mount Vernon.

Steven Miller - the kid who lived in the Russians house before they did. We all took turns beating him up I think. His dad played in a band and they would play late at night.

Jim Andujar - Helped me get my first job waiting tables @ Shoney's (His mom Carol was the mgr) We frequently drove around and had late night adventures after work, including shooting people with water guns. He had to two children right after high school and now is remarried and living in Galloway.

Scott Brown - He ended up going to college and playing DIII football. His wife is named Opal and they have a couple of kids. Kelly and I have run into them a few times.

Scott Hoover - We hung out, swam in our pool and played baseball a lot from age 14-16. He did not do well his first year @ OSU and was working at a Pet store last I heard.

FYI: Brian Jones used to give me rides to school my soph year and I thought for a long time that his sister Michelle was hot.
Shannon Bias gave me morning rides to school my junior year, I did take her to the prom in 1992 (see above photo) and we dated before she left for Dayton University.

I remember playing little league baseball with Ben Harding and we did cub scouts together too. I also remember getting into a few fights with him. I think Ivy was beating up Joey and I was beating up Ben one time when his foul mouthed mother came out and started yelling at us.
Many of the neighborhood kids played street football with us over the years and Dad even came out to play QB sometimes (usually only on turkey day). Ivy and I used to beat everyone two on two, especially Scott Brown and Ben. I also remember that Jim Andujar had a habit of running into parked cars.

In the late 80's we played a lot of wiffle ball in our backyard as well. I even gave our field the nickname "Ortman stick park" with our big brown monster, that is until our pool was put in.
